EU Chamber of Commerce in China eyeing cooperation with Hainan

HAIKOU, September 23. /TASS/. An EU Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) delegation visited Hainan on 23 September and took part in industry sessions where possible cooperation with local partners was discussed. According to www.hinews.cn, the relevant industry forums were organized by Hainan's Office for International Economic Development.

Representatives of European companies who attended industry sessions, which included, in particular, discussions on health care, special nutrition and intersectoral areas, praised Hainan's development and expressed their readiness for specific agreements, the news outlet writes.

"After the publication of the program for Hainan's free trade port development, we are actively studying the relevant provisions in order to better understand Hainan. During this visit, we intend to establish contacts with individual parks and Hainan's relevant government agencies to assess the possibility of registration on the Island of Hainan," said Gao Yong, Vice President of Bayer China.

According to him, Bayer, like about 30 other companies related to medicine and pharmaceuticals, are showing interest in the development of traditional Chinese medicine in the free trade port of Hainan. This direction in the province, he believes, is very competitive in the market. “We hope that after this visit and the establishment of ties, we can cooperate with Hainan in the future,” said Gao Yong.

The EUCCC members delegation were particularly interested in Boao-Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone. By 2025, according to plan, it should be brought to the forefront of the world in the field of medical technologies and equipment. Currently, work is underway to create, within the framework of this project, an advanced clinical center and base for conducting research, as well as applying the most modern medical technologies.

By 2030, the pilot zone will become a top-notch international medical tourism hub with an innovative platform for medical science and technology.
