Hainan's Danzhou shows best dynamics on the island in 2019
By 2025, the Chinese government intends to create an "international center for tourism and consumption" on Hainan
HAIKOU, November 1. /TASS/. The city of Danzhou in the north-west of China's Hainan free trade zone has become the most dynamically developing in this region in 2019. According to the local administration, its gross product in January-September increased by 7.4% year on year, reaching 25 billion yuan ($ 3.54 billion).
According to statictics, the service sector showed best dynamics on Hainan in 2019, both due to tourism and due to the growing role of the island in regional and global trade, as well as in the field of logistics. Danzhou plays a particularly important role in this process: it hosts the Yangpu port, through which an increasingly intense trans-regional flow of goods is expected to pass within the coming years. A transport corridor, which runs through Chongqing (China's southwest) connecting the countries of Southeast Asia with Mongolia, and Russia, will become a channel for it.
Hainan continues to create new jobs and implement promising projects mainly due to the service sector and knowledge-intensive business areas, with the authorities' constant focus on their steady growth. The dynamics of the development of services and innovations on the island amounts to 7.1%, which is much higher than that of Hainan's agriculture (2.6%) and industry (3.9%).
In April 2018, President Xi Jinping said that the Chinese authorities intend to actively involve Hainan in globalization and to draw foreign investors to the island province. By 2050, according to the authorities, the island should become a unique international cluster with an advanced economy, developed tourism, top-notch scientific, technical and financial potential, and modern medicine. The branches of the best universities and offices of the most powerful corporations in the world will be located on the Island of Hainan.
By 2025, the Chinese government intends to create an "international center for tourism and consumption" on Hainan. In order to do so, the "Eastern Hawaii" with their unique natural landscapes, thick rainforests and great climate will establish a developed network of hotels, which blend perfectly with white sandy beaches stretching along the coastline. The combination of an exotic subtropical nature and a modern eco-friendly infrastructure will boost tourist inflow to the island from the most distant parts of the world.
