China to promote Hainan's medical tourism pilot zone

The decision to create Boao Lecheng zone for international medical tourism  was made in 2013

HAIKOU, September 20. /TASS/. The Chinese government presented a set of measures to further advance the project for the construction of a pilot zone for international medical tourism in southern Hainan. The plans were announced in Beijing at a press conference by the deputy head of the Chinese State Committee for Reform and Development Lo Wen, according to www.hinews.cn information portal.

The program provides for bringing the pilot area of ​​international medical tourism Boao Lecheng to the world level in the field of medical technology and equipment by 2025. In particular, it is planned to create an advanced clinical center and a base for research work within the framework of this project.

This project, according to Lo Wen, will receive comprehensive support from the authorities in terms of openness and human resources.

In order to promote it, the authorities intend to facilitate the import of imported medicines necessary for use in the pilot area. According to the governor of Hainan, Shen Xiaoming, the local authorities will also develop appropriate standards and regulatory frameworks, as well as create conditions for the collection and research of clinical data.

The decision to create Boao Lecheng zone for international medical tourism  was made in 2013. Currently, 16 projects are being implemented on its territory, nine medical institutions are at the verification stage or are already functioning.

"We welcome all good projects in the pilot zone, and we are looking forward to the emergence of advanced technologies and scientific innovations in it," the portal quotes the head of the Hainan Health Committee Han Inwei.
