Russia expects Venezuela to pay $200 mln on its debt in autumn
This will be another debt payment under the terms of Venezuela's $3 bln debt
BEIJING, April 26. /TASS/. Moscow hopes that Venezuela will manage to make another debt payment under the terms of its $3 bln debt to Russia in autumn, First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters.
In March, Venezuela was to pay $100 mln to Russia paid this amount only mid-April. However, the payment was made within the period when no fines are imposed.
"It [Venezuela] paid and paid during the period when no penalties are imposed. We hope that the second payment will be made this year too," Siluanov said.
He specified that the next payment is expected in autumn and this will be $200 mln.
Earlier, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak did not rule out problems with servicing Venezuela’s sovereign debt to Russia because of the political crisis in that country.
In November 2017, Russia and Venezuela signed an intergovernmental protocol on debt restructuring for $3.15 billion for 10 years with minimum payments in the first 6 years. Under the document, payments should be made twice a year - in March and September.
