CHITA, April 24. /TASS/. A special device for the visually impaired, as well as a robot for home schooling and other inventions by school students were presented at the Trans-Baikal Region’s stage of the I Make competition, organized by the Nornickel Company, press service of the Bystrinskoye Mining Company (a part of Nornickel) told TASS on Wednesday.
"From about five dozen applications, the jury in the Trans-Baikal Region selected ten best projects for presentation - the authors had seven minutes to present the projects both in Russian and in English," the press service said. "The jury will name six best inventions, and their authors will take special courses in Moscow and in October they will join the Russian national team at the 6th International Young Inventors Awards (IYIA) in Indonesia."
Besides the robot and the device for the visually impaired, the organizers viewed projects in overcoming emergency situations, in education, agriculture, green technologies, safety and healthcare.
The I Make competition features school students from the Trans-Baikal, Krasnoyarsk and Murmansk Regions. Nornickel’s representatives told TASS authors of the best projects would be able to upgrade their inventions in cooperation with experienced specialists.
