Russian-Arab Business Council proves to be effective and popular, says Putin

The fourth international exhibition "Arabia-Expo" is running in Moscow on April 8-10.

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Russia expects that the session of the Russian-Arab Business Council, which already proved effective and popular, that opened on Monday will make it possible to plan new forms of mutually beneficial cooperation, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the participants of the Russia-Arab World forum in his welcome address. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov read out the text of the address at the opening ceremony.

"In the years of its existence, the Russian-Arab Business Council fully proved its effectiveness and popularity, contributing to the development of a direct dialogue and practical cooperation between the business communities of Russia, Middle Eastern countries and northern Africa. The council’s activity creates conditions for bolstering and diversifying trade exchanges, growing mutual investments and implementing promising joint projects in the sphere of production, agriculture, energy industry, high technologies, transport and infrastructure," the president said in his welcome address.

"The organization of the massive exhibitions ‘Arabia-Expo,’ at which Russians may study the advanced economic and scientific-technical achievements of the Arab states and which help business representatives exchange commercial proposals and innovative ideas, are an important area of the council’s work. I expect that today’s session will be substantia, will make it possible to plan new forms and mechanisms for mutual cooperation and will help consolidate friendship and mutual understanding between our nations," Putin noted.

Lavrov also conveyed Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s words to the participants. According to Lavrov, the Russian prime minister noted that Russia and the Arab states "have firm ties of friendship and partnership" and expressed "conviction that the current events in Moscow will make it possible to fully disclose the considerable potential of the cooperation between Russia and the regional states."

The fourth international exhibition "Arabia-Expo" is running in Moscow on April 8-10. Its key event was the 12th session of the Russian-Arab Business Council.
