Heads of top Swiss companies to participate in SPIEF this year, says Roscongress

Switzerland has an initiative to organize 2 events at the SPIEF: a Swiss-Russian Business Dialogue and a panel discussion on corporate social responsibility as a sustainable development factor

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Heads of leading Swiss companies have confirmed participation in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that will be held on June 6-8, press service of Russia's Roscongress Foundation, the organizer of the forum, said in a statement on Tuesday following a meeting between Advisor to Russian President Anton Kobyakov and Switzerland’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Moscow Yves Rossier.

"The heads of leading Swiss companies have already confirmed they will attend. The Swiss delegation will be officially represented at the SPIEF 2019 by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch and State Secretary for International Finance Daniela Stoffel," the statement said.

This year Switzerland has launched an initiative to organize two events at the SPIEF - a bilateral Swiss-Russian Business Dialogue and a panel discussion on corporate social responsibility as a factor for sustainable development.

In 2018, almost 200 representatives from Switzerland, including officials and business representatives, attended the Forum. "Such interest from the business community is an indicator of the impressive practical return the Forum offers as a platform for building international dialogue and finding new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between countries," Rossier was quoted as saying.

In its turn, Moscow welcomes the high level of interest among representatives of Swiss business, officials, and experts in further developing and strengthening business ties with their Russian partners, including using the SPIEF platform. "As of today, there are more than 600 enterprises with Swiss capital operating in our country. It is gratifying to see the positive dynamics in Switzerland’s business activities in Russia, where the Swiss business is expanding its presence each year," press service quoted Kobyakov as saying.
