Nizhny Novgorod, Yamal agree cooperation on industrial projects

Yamal and the Nizhny Novgorod Region plan to enter a bilateral agreement to develop and expand cooperation in various industries

YEKATERINBURG, March 1. /TASS/. The Nizhny Novgorod Region confirmed it would supply to the Yamalo-Nenets Region river vessels and gas liquefying equipment, Yamal’s governmental press service said on Friday.

Yamal’s Governor Dmitry Artyukhov at a meeting with the Nizhny Novgorod Region’s Governor Gleb Nikitin discussed how the regions would cooperate in various industrial sectors and signed a protocol of intention on development of cooperation between the regions.

"The document, among other aspects, mentions that the Nizhny Novgorod Region will supply vessels to Yamal, and in addition to that, the parties have agreed that the region will supply equipment for natural gas liquefying under the LNG programs, which continue on Yamal," the press service said.

According to Yamal’s governor, annual investments in the region over recent three years have been at more than one trillion rubles ($15 billion).

"All the developments in the Arctic require new approaches: new equipment, new materials, new technologies," the press service quoted Yamal’s governor as saying. "The industrial potential of the Nizhny Novgorod Region is very attractive."

Yamal and the Nizhny Novgorod Region plan to enter a bilateral agreement to develop and expand cooperation in various industries, in agriculture, transport, sciences, education, trade, ecology, healthcare, culture, labor migration, tourism and sports.
