TASS, February 21. The Yamalo-Nenets Region will receive in March first tourist groups on a new tour, dubbed Yamal: Land of Thousand Reindeer, the region’s Head of Youth Policies and Tourism Department Nail Khairullin told TASS on Thursday.

"The Discover Yamal operator jointly with an airline and tourist attractions has launched a tour called Yamal: Land of Thousand Reindeer," the official said. "First tourist groups will come to the region from Tatarstan in early and mid-March already."

The choice of Tatarstan was reasonable, he continued, as from Kazan there are direct flights to Salekhard, and the airline has offered good fares for regular flights. "Whenever we have agreements with other airlines, we shall attract tourists from other regions, too," he said.

Within four days, Yamal’s guests will cross the 66th parallel, will visit traditional tents, where the indigenous peoples live, will drive snowmobiles and will ride in a reindeer sleigh, will see the Northern Lights, the official said. "The tour’s price is 19,900 rubles ($304), which covers: a return air ticket, accommodation (a four-star hotel with breakfast) and sightseeing," he added.
