BANGALORE /India/, February 21. /TASS/. Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) plans to start supplies of Be-200 amphibious planes meant for domestic flights to India, Chief Executive Officer of Beriev Aircraft, the manufacturer of those planes, Yuri Grudinin said in Thursday.
"UAC plans to supply Be-200 planes for domestic Indian flights," he said, adding that the company is "negotiating (supplies) with potential partners."
The Be-200, a Russian amphibian plane, is capable of landing on ground and ice-covered airfields as well as on water surfaces. Bascially designed for extinguishing fires, the aircraft is nonetheless available in transport, passenger, search-and rescue, as well as sanitary modifications.
