Indian Kalashnikov localization deal can be inked in 2019
BENGALURU /India/, February 20. /TASS/. An intergovernmental agreement on building a Kalashnikov automatic rifle (AK) factory in India could be signed this year, Rostec International Cooperation and Regional Policy Director Viktor Kladov said on Wednesday in a press conference held at Aero India 2019 expo.
"The agreement on building a factory to produce AKs in India is in final stages and could be signed this year," Kladov stressed.
Funding and the type of automatic rifles to be produced along with the manufacturing capacities will be determined later.
The Aero India 2019 expo opened its doors on February 20 at an air force base in Bengaluru (Bangalore) and will close on February 24. The expo is organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Government of India and held once every two years. This year, Russia will display more than 200 military production samples.
