Russian businessmen Deripaska, Vekselberg will take part in Davos Forum

MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. Businessman Oleg Deripaska will take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, as the chairman of the Volnoye Delo foundation. This is according to the forum’s official program published on Tuesday.
However, Deripaska’s participation in panel discussions and sessions has not yet been announced.
Owner of the Renova group Viktor Vekselberg, will attend the event as President of the Skolkovo Foundation, according to the program.
The lists of participants also includes FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, main owner of NLMK Vladimir Lisin, the main shareholder of Severstal Alexey Mordashov, co-owner of the USM holding Alisher Usmanov, head of Yandex Arkady Volozh.
By tradition, head of Sberbank, German Gref, head of VTB Andrei Kostin, head of Rosnano Anatoly Chubais, and general director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev will also be among the forum’s guests.
The Russian government will be represented by Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin and Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
In November, Financial Times reported citing sources that Deripaska, Vekselberg and Kostin will not be invited to the World Economic Forum. According to the sources, the decision was due to concerns related to the US sanctions.
Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said then that the Forum will lose by not inviting major Russian businessmen.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia will withdraw from participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos if restrictions for Russian businessmen on attendance at this event are not lifted.
Later, the forum organizers changed their position on the participation of representatives of the Russian Federation. After that, the Russian government said it will send its official delegation to Davos.
Viktor Vekselberg and Andrei Kostin confirmed their participation in the forum. The forum is scheduled for January 22-25, 2019.
