Russia, Greece discuss development of military cooperation
On December 7-8, Moscow hosted the 14th meeting of the Russian-Greek Joint Committee on Military and Technical Cooperation
ATHENS, December 10. /TASS/. The Russian and Greek delegations have discussed the issues of strengthening cooperation between both countries at a meeting of the Russian-Greek Joint Committee on Military and Technical Cooperation, the General Directorate for Defense Equipment and Investments of the Greek Ministry of National Defense said on Monday.
"On December 7-8, Moscow hosted the 14th meeting of the Russian-Greek Joint Committee on Military and Technical Cooperation. The meeting was attended by a delegation of the General Directorate for Defense Equipment and Investments of the Greek Ministry headed by General Director Vice Admiral (ret) Kyriakos Kyriakidis, and a delegation of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation headed by Director General Dmitry Shugaev on the Russian side. Furthermore, the event was attended by Deputy Head of the Foreign Policy Department at the Presidential Executive Office, Igor Nagorny, and representatives of state-owned Rosoboronexport," reads the statement.
It goes on to say that the "meeting was held in the context of beefing up cooperation between the two countries in the military and defense area."
On October 29, Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in Moscow that Greece is keen to continue military and technical cooperation with Russia.
In April, Moscow and Athens signed an agreement to extend the service limit of weapon systems.
