Russia wants to involve Chinese companies in construction of power plants in Far East
The possibility of involving Chinese companies in the construction and upgrading of power plants in the Far East was discussed during Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev's visit to Beijing
MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District and Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev has discussed participation of Chinese companies in the construction and upgrading of power stations in the Far East, according to a statement published on the website of the Russian government.
"In Beijing, Deputy Prime Minister - Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev, discussed the implementation of projects in the Far East with the management of Chinese companies. As a member of the Russian delegation, the Deputy Prime Minister arrived [in the Chinese capital] to take part at the 23rd regular meeting of the heads of government of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China," the statement said.
At the meeting, the participation of Chinese companies in the construction and modernization of power plants in the Far East and in the implementation of several other projects, was considered. In particular, China Energy Engineering Corporation is interested in the construction (upgrade) of power plants in the region as part of the program designed by Russia’s Energy Ministry, which provides for the modernization of about 40 GW of power capacity until 2035.
"Yury Trutnev instructed the Far East Agency to attract investments and export support to work out the possibility of involving private companies in the construction of power plants in the Far Eastern Federal District," the report states.
