Russia’s gas producer Novatek has shipped its first LNG cargo to the Brazilian market with liquefied natural gas produced

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Novatek Gas and Power Asia Pte. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Novatek, has shipped its first LNG (liquefied natural gas) cargo to the Brazilian market with gas produced at the Yamal LNG project, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The cargo was delivered to the Bahia Regasification Terminal owned by Petrobras.

Novatek is one of Russia’s largest independent natural gas producers. In 2017, the company entered the global gas market by successfully launching the Yamal LNG project (50.1% owned by Novatek, 20% - France’s Total, 20% - China’s CNPC, 9.9% - Silk Road Fund). The project is being implemented on the resource base of the Yuzhno-Tambeyskoye field in Russia’s Arctic region. It envisions the launch of three stages, each with the capacity of around 5.5 mln tonnes a year, and the fourth - with the capacity of 0.9-0.95 mln tonnes. The first stage was put into operation on December 8, 2017, the following stages are planned to be commissioned in 2018-2019.
