Moscow’s Tagansky Court enters appeal by Telegram’s lawyers to fight block in Russia
On April 13, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court upheld the Russian telecom watchdog’s motion to block access to the cloud-based instant messaging service in Russia
MOSCOW, May 18. /TASS/. Moscow’s Tagansky Court has docketed an appeal lodged by Telegram’s lawyers to challenge that court’s ruling to block the messenger in Russia, the website of Moscow’s courts reported on Friday.
The appeal lodged on May 11, was registered in the court’s database on May 18.
"Notice of appeal - May 18, 2018. Entered," the case file reads.
On April 13, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court upheld the Russian telecom watchdog’s motion to block access to the cloud-based instant messaging service in Russia for its failure to provide the keys to decrypt user messages to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). Telegram said this demand was impossible to comply with technically, since the keys are stored on user devices.
As reported earlier the appeal states that the court judgement had been taken contrary to legal procedures.
