Over 2,000 servicemen take part in final stage of Russian-Tajik anti-terror drills
The servicemen of the two states trained cooperation in detecting, blocking and eliminating illegal armed groups
YEKATERINBURG, March 31. /TASS/. Over 2,000 servicemen took part in the final stage of a joint Russian-Tajik counter-terrorism exercises that ended at the Kharbmaidon training ground in Tajikistan on Friday, the Russian Central Military District’s press service said.
"During the final stage, the servicemen of the two states trained cooperation in detecting, blocking and eliminating illegal armed groups. Tactical maneuvers involved over 2,000 personnel and about 2,000 pieces of military and special-purpose hardware," the press service said in a statement.
The BTR-80, BTR-82, BMP-2 armored vehicles, T-72 tanks, 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers and Grad multiple rocket launchers took part in the exercise.
Air support was delivered by a joint air group of Su-24M bombers, Su-25 attack aircraft, Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, as well as Mi-8 and Mi-24 multirole helicopters.
The joint drills began in Tajikistan on March 27.
