ABU DHABI, February 21. /TASS/. Russian-made Tigr armored vehicles enjoy enhanced demand on the world arms market, CEO of Russia’s Military and Industrial Company (VPK) Alexander Krasovitsky told TASS on Tuesday.
"We understand that our Tigr wins in competition with foreign rivals in terms of its operation and reliability. Also, the Tigr is 1.5-2 times cheaper, although it features a higher level of armor and ground clearance. This vehicle actually cannot be suppressed by jamming [counter-measures]," Krasovitsky said at the 13th IDEX-2017 international arms exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
"I believe that after the display in Abu Dhabi, the interest in our vehicles will increase," the VPK head said.
In turn, Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport Deputy CEO Igor Sevastyanov said that the demand for Tigr armored vehicles was growing.
"We have specific contracts and specific deliveries. This vehicle is very much in demand [from customers]. We export both baseline Tigrs and Tigr vehicles with the Kornet anti-tank system," Sevastyanov said.
The Tigr is the family of Russian-made armored vehicles whose various modifications have been produced by the Arzamas Machine-Building Enterprise since 2005.
The Tigr armored vehicle is designed to carry people (up to ten persons) and various cargoes by roads and rough terrain. The independent torsion bar suspension of all the vehicle’s wheels and a powerful engine provide for its exceptional cross country capacity and a speed of up to 140 km/hr on the road.
