Russian combat engineers complete mission in Syria’s Aleppo
The Russian military have defused tens of thousands of explosive devices planted by retreating militants, according to Russia’s Channel One
MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. Russian mine pickers have completed their mission in Syria’s Aleppo and its suburbs and are returning home to Russia, Russia’s Channel One said on Monday.
"Demining works will be continued by Syrian bomb technicians who have undergone special training. The Russian specialists will leave their state-of-the-art equipment for their Syrian colleagues," the television channel said.
Local residents came to the airdrome to see off the Russian specialists.
According to Channel One, the Russian military have defused tens of thousands of explosive devices planted by retreating militants.
Officers of the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria will stay in Aleppo to help conduct humanitarian operations.
