CIS forces hold simulated launches of antiaircraft missiles
The drills involve about 100 planes, including strategic bombers, interceptors and assault aircraft.
MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Missile forces from the member-states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have carried out about 200 simulated launches of antiaircraft missiles, including from S-300 Favorit and S-400 Triumf air defense systems, the press office of Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
"Combat crews of S-400 Triumf, S-300 Favorit air defense missile systems, Pantsyr-S antiaircraft missile/gun complexes of the Aerospace Force, formations of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Russian Armed Forces’ military districts, and also antiaircraft missile complexes of the armed forces from the member-states of the CIS joint air defense system have carried out about 100 simulated impacts on aerial targets by conducting electronic launches of about 200 antiaircraft missiles against control targets," the press office said in a statement obtained by TASS.
As part of the drills, combat aircraft took to the skies more than 100 times to force notional trespassers to land and prevent aircraft hijacking, the statement said.
As was reported earlier, the drills involve about 100 planes, including strategic bombers, interceptors and assault aircraft. The maneuvers are being conducted in the airspace of Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Kazakhstan and involve planes from seven CIS countries.
