Russia, Pakistan hold first ever firing drills in Friendship-2016 maneuvers
The drills will last through October 10
CHERAT /Pakistan/, September 30. /TASS/. Russian and Pakistani troops have held first ever firing exercises with the use of organic small arms as part of the joint maneuvers Friendship-2016, the press office of Russia’s Southern Military District said on Friday.
"Russian reconnaissance troopers tested M4 5.56mm rifles and Glock 9mm pistols operational in the Pakistani army. Pakistani servicemen conducted fire from the Russian-made AK-74 automatic rifles, PKM and Pecheneg machine guns, GP-25 Kostyor under-barrel grenade launchers and special PSS self-loading pistols," the press office said.
Troopers fired at targets located at a distance of 50 to 500 meters and spent about 10,000 pieces of ammunition, the press office of Russia’s Southern Military District said.
Pakistani troopers showed special interest when they fired from Val specialized automatic rifles, the press office said.
The Friendship-2016 maneuvers involve a total of 200 servicemen from Russia and Pakistan. Russia is represented by scouts of the mountain motor rifle brigade of the Southern Military District located in Karachay-Cherkessia. The drills will last through October 10.
