MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry will be telecasting the situation in Syria’s Aleppo live using both cameras on the ground and installed on a drone, Foreign Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told the media on Thursday.
"In order to ensure the transparency of compliance with the cessation of hostilities regime by all parties concerned in the territory of Syria the Russian Defense Ministry’s website on September 15, 2016 started telecasting the situation in Aleppo using video cameras," Konashenkov said.
"On-line telecasting is already in progress from two cameras on the ground. Also, for the first time there has begun open on-line telecasting of the situation in the eastern part of Aleppo from a drone," Konashenkov said.
In the longer term more monitoring posts will be created.
A 48-hour truce took effect in the whole territory of Syria at 19:00 Moscow time on September 12 under a deal clinched by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva on September 10. Lavrov and Kerry agreed on creation of a joint Russian-US center for the separation of the opposition from terrorist groups, coordination of air strikes by Russian and US combat aircraft against extremists and measures to guarantee humanitarian access to Aleppo.
Syrian army observes ceasefire, 'moderate opposition' intensifies attacks
Syria’s "moderate opposition" controlled by the United States is only intensifying its artillery bombardments of residential areas after the third day of the truce, the cessation of hostilities regime is observed by the Syrian army only, Konashenkov stated.
"After the third day of their (agreements on Syria) implementation, only the Syrian army is observing the truce, while the US-led "moderate opposition" is increasing the number of artillery bombardments of residential areas," Konashenkov said. "Moreover, the impression is that the aim of Washington’s juggling with words is the intention to conceal its failure to honor its part of the commitments, above all, to disengage ‘moderate opposition’ units and terrorists.".
Earlier the Russian Defense Ministry came out for prolonging the cessation of hostilities regime on the whole territory of Syria for another 48 hours.
