Manufacturer working on improvement of Armata tank units
A more powerful engine for the tank is being tested
KUBINKA (Moscow Region), September 8. /TASS/. Russian machine building company Uralvagonzavod has started working on improvement of the major units and components of the Armata tank, the company’s general director Oleg Siyenko said Thursday.
"We are starting work on improvement of some units and components, as we realize that they may add efficiency to the machine. The talk is about nearly all main units and components," Siyenko said.
He said Armata tests are proceeding according to plan. "We are happy with the machine, the military, too. We have started gunnery drills, the results inspire us, as the tank displayed itself in a very positive way," he said, adding that the characteristics laid down in the performance specifications are confirmed by tests.
Besides, the head of Uralvagonzavod said, a more powerful engine for the tank is being tested. "We want this engine to become the main one for long years," he said.
Earlier, the general director said the power of the engine for the Armata-platform tank is to be brought to 1,800 horsepower.
The T-14 Armata tank has a number of unique technical features, including an unmanned turret and completely digital equipment. It was unveiled to the public at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow in 2015.
