Russia’s military exports in 2015 accounted for $14.5 billion
MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Production volume in Russia's military industrial sector in 2015 grew by13%, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said after meeting of the board of Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday.
"In 2015, the volume of production in the military-industrial complex in general rose by almost 13%," Rogozin said.
The deputy prime minister said over the past several years Russia’s defense sector has been developing by leaps and bounds. This came amid the implementation of the ambitious arms program and also reducing bureaucratic procedures.
The enterprises managed to implement the 2015 state defense order by 97%, he said. He also said that the Russian army in general is now 47.2% supplied with modern weapons samples.
Military exports at $14,5 billion
According to the official, Russia’s military exports in 2015 accounted for $14.5 billion, exceeding the target.
"Russia’s military exports last year exceeded the target and amounted to $14.5 billion," the deputy prime minister said.
According to Rogozin, new contracts worth more than $26 billion were concluded last year. "As a result, the volume of the export portfolio of armaments and military equipment for the first time since 1992 reached $56 billion, which allowed Russia to once again consolidate its second place in this competition of the leading exporters of arms and military equipment," the deputy prime minister said, adding that the first place belongs to the United States.
