More than 5,000 military engineers take part in qualification rounds of Int’l Army Games

Qualifications have been held in the Clear Water contest of bridge/ferry units, as well as the Safe Route and Engineering Formula contests of sapper units

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. First qualification rounds held as part of preparations for the International Army Games have embraced more than 5,000 military, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Qualifications have been held in the Clear Water contest of bridge/ferry units, as well as the Safe Route and Engineering Formula contests of sapper units.

"The Clear Water qualifications brought together thirty engineering units, about 3,000 servicemen and more than 1,500 weaponry systems and items of specialized technologies.

More than a hundred units of sappers with the combined manpower of over 1,500 servicemen operating 250 weaponry systems and specialized vehicles took part in the Safe Route elimination rounds. Slightly more than a hundred crews of engineering vehicles and 500 units of machinery were engaged in the Engineering Formula contest.

The qualification rounds organized as part of preparations for the International Army Games 2016 will make it possible for the first time ever to embrace twelve specialisms of the corps of engineers.

The 2nd International Army Games will be held from July 20 through to August 13 in Russia and Kazakhstan. The Russian Defense Ministry provides eighteen drilling ranges in the Western, Central and Southern Military Districts for the purpose.

The programme of the Games features 23 contests.
