Small arms account for 5% of Kalashnikov’s supplies under defense contract
Currently one of concern’s main tasks is to build up the share of civilian products in the overall output
MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The share of small arms in the amount of products the Kalashnikov concern supplies under the state defense contract does not exceed 5%, the concern’s CEO, Aleksey Krivoruchko, told Forbes magazine in an interview.
"Last year the state defense contract will yield 75% of the revenue. This year its cash value went down to 60%. And the share of small arms in the supplies of weapons under the state defense contract does not exceed 5%," Krivoruchko said.
Currently one of concern’s main tasks is to build up the share of civilian products in the overall output.
"We are addressing this issue in full seriousness. Already now civilian products constitute half of the firearms we produce," Krivoruchko said.
Kalashnikov makes a wide spectrum of weapons - from small arms to guided missiles. Its products are exported to tens of countries around the world. The Rostec corporation owns a 51%-stake in Kalashnikov. Another 49% of shares are distributed among private investors.
