Russian Airborne Troops deny resignation of Commander-in-Chief

Several media reported earlier that Vladimir Shamanov would resign from the post noting that he might become a lawmaker
MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) have denied the resignation of Col. Gen. Vladimir Shamanov from the post of Commander and said media reports to this effect are "rumors."
"This is just a rumor. The Commander knew nothing about his resignation until he read those reports. The Colonel General is not going anywhere, he has completely different tasks," a high-ranking source in VDV headquarters told TASS on Thursday.
Several media reported earlier that Shamanov would resign from the post noting that he mignt become a State Duma deputy.
Shamanov has served as the VDV Commander since 2009.
