MOSCOW , March 24. /TASS/. Russia’s airborne troops and aircraft that have participated in a three-day surprise combat readiness check of the airborne forces have coped with all of their tasks and are returning to permanent locations, the Defense Ministry’s press-service has said.

"Airborne units and crews of military transport and tactical aircraft have coped with all of their tasks and are on the way to their permanent locations," the ministry said in a news release obtained by TASS.

According to earlier reports, a command-and-staff exercise began on Tuesday. The combat readiness of airborne troops was tested, with about 30,000 military, 3,800 pieces of military equipment on the ground and 100 aircraft taking part.

Alerted airborne units were airlifted to sites 1,500 kilometers away to have landed at the Totskoye proving ground, the Orenburg Region, to confront a force of hypothetical militants. In this particular operation more than 400 paratroops with military equipment and about 15 aircraft were involved.

Earlier, it was reported that Sukhoi-25 attack aircraft and frontline bombers Sukhoi-24M hit targets at the Totskoye proving ground.

Military-transport and army aircraft participated in airdrop operations at the Pesochnoye and Seltsy test sites and the Klokovo airdrome.
