ST. PETERSBURG, March 17. /TASS/. The operation of Russia’s air group in Syria has proved the effectiveness of Russian radio-electronic warfare means, the first deputy CEO of the Radioelectronic Technologies concern (an affiliate of Rostec), Igor Nasenkov, told the media.
"The equipment was tested. I won’t say what was tested and how. It proved combat-ready and demonstrated the expected tactical and technical parameters. We were able to see for ourselves that all terms of reference we had received from the Defense Ministry have been met. First and foremost this concerns radio-electronic warfare means," he said.
Nasenkov said that after the operation many clients displayed considerably greater interest in Russian radio-electronic warfare complexes.
Russia began the operation in Syria on September 30, 2015 at the request of Syria’s President Bashar Assad. On March 14, 2015 Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to pull out the main part of the Russian aerospace group from Syria. He said the Russian military had coped with its tasks by and large.
Two Russian military facilities in Syria will remain operational - the Hmeimim air field and Tartus. The Russian Defense Ministry, too, has said the struggle with terrorists will go on.
