MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. The Admiralty Wharves Shipyard in northwest Russia plans to deliver seven non-nuclear submarines and one ice-breaker to customers by 2018, the shipyard CEO Alexander Buzakov told TASS on Wednesday.
Several foreign customers are currently in talks with the Admiralty Wharves on the construction of submarines for them, he said.
"Before 2018, the shipyard plans to deliver eight ships, three submarines and an ice-breaker for the Russian Navy and four submarines as part of military and technical cooperation," the Admiralty Wharves CEO said.
Foreign customers "traditionally display a keen interest in the output of the Admiralty Wharves," he added.
"Today several foreign countries seeking to protect their territorial waters have expressed their desire to sign contracts with us on the construction of submarines. Some offers are at the stage of examination, including at the level of the Russian government," Buzakov said.
"The Admiralty Wharves’ offers for foreign customers are not limited to Project 636 submarines," he said.
"Many customers are also displaying great interest in the Amur project [the export version of the Lada-class submarine]. Moreover, all the vessels are armed with the newest weaponry based on the Kalibr missile systems," the shipyard head said.
