MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. The peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are ready to conduct operations not only in the organization’s member-countries, but also in other countries, if there is the appropriate decision of the United Nations, CSTO Deputy Secretary-General Valery Semerikov told reporters on Wednesday.

"If such a decision is taken, our peacekeeping forces are ready to fulfill tasks on the basis of mandates from the CSTO Collective Security Council and the UN," he said.

According to Semerikov, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross are involved in the preparation of CSTO peacekeepers in terms of international humanitarian law. "But most of the work to train our peacekeeping forces is done in close contact with the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations," he said.
