KALININGRAD, September 16. /TASS/. The Baltic Fleet’s advanced corvettes Soobrazitelny, Boiky and Stoiky have eliminated targets imitating a simulated enemy’s group of warships in a missile attack during the Russian-Belarusian exercise Union Shield-2015, the Fleet’s press office said on Wednesday.

"As a result of the missile attack, the sea targets imitating the simulated enemy’s surface ships were hit by three Uran anti-ship cruise missiles at a distance of more than 35 kilometers [21 miles]," the press office said.

It was the first time that three ships conducted a missile live-firing exercise simultaneously.

A helicopter was used to monitor the results of the live-firing exercise. Its crew confirmed that the targets had been hit.

Baltic Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Viktor Kravchuk watched the live-firing exercise aboard the Stoiky corvette. He noted the crews’ cohesion in accomplishing a difficult task.

The live-firing exercise was held at the Fleet’s sea range in the Baltic Sea. The area was closed to navigation. As many as 15 ships provided security.
