MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. A ceasefire will take effect in the Kherson direction starting at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time (1:00 a.m. GMT) in connection with a humanitarian operation in Alyoshki.

Russian Chief of the General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov announced on October 23 that the Russian Armed Forces would cease fire in the Kherson direction starting at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time on October 27 to allow for a humanitarian operation in Alyoshki, Kherson Region. He said that engineering reconnaissance would be conducted, and safe passage would be provided for humanitarian convoys to ensure civilian safety and deliver vital social supplies to Alyoshki.

On September 21, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the situation in Alyoshki as critical, saying that food and medicine could not be delivered there amid ongoing Ukrainian shelling and drone attacks. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump held a phone call on October 9. Putin said the parties had agreed that Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova would remain in constant contact with US First Lady Melania Trump's office.

Peskov pointed out on October 26 that the agreement to conduct a humanitarian operation in Alyoshki could set a precedent for similar missions in other areas. He particularly highlighted the United States’ direct and constructive role in coordinating the process. Peskov added that Russia hoped Ukraine would honor all agreements concerning the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki.
