MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. The maritime phase of the joint Russian-Indian Indra 2026 exercise has started at the Russian Pacific Fleet’s main base in Vladivostok, the fleet’s press service said.

"The maritime phase of the joint Russian-Indian cross-branch exercise Indra 2026 has begun in Vladivostok at the Pacific Fleet’s main base. The Pacific Fleet corvette Aldar Tsydenzhapov and the Indian Navy frigate INS Sahyadri have sailed into the Sea of Japan to conduct maneuvers," the fleet said in a statement.

It said that during the maritime phase, the ships will conduct live-fire drills using their naval artillery systems against surface and air targets. "A separate exercise will involve repelling attacks by uncrewed boats and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of a simulated adversary. Shipborne helicopters from the ships of the two friendly nations will fly in accordance with the exercise objectives and practice landing on each other’s vessels," the Pacific Fleet’s press service added.

It also said that the final stage will involve practicing the release of a vessel seized by pirates.

"The warships’ crews will conduct joint maneuvers and test communications between the vessels, as well as other elements of cooperation at sea," the press service said.

The joint Russian-Indian cross-branch exercise Indra 2026, comprising maritime, land, and air phases, began on October 14, 2026.
