Citadel system shows high efficiency when neutralizing enemy drones — Defense Ministry
The system includes a control post for coordinating the operation of firing modules and other equipment, a surveillance radar station, firing modules and a munition package
MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Russia’s state-of-the-art Citadel anti-aircraft artillery system uses minimal shells to take out uncrewed boats, as well as lightly armored vehicles and drones, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"With a high degree of automation, the use of AI, and a modular architecture, the system can effectively engage unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), uncrewed boats, and even lightly armored vehicles with minimal ammunition consumption," the ministry said in a statement.
It specified that the Citadel 30-mm automatic cannon uses shrapnel shells with programmable detonation timing to destroy enemy drones. In addition, the ministry noted that the system includes a control post for coordinating the operation of firing modules and other equipment, a surveillance radar station, firing modules, and a munition package.
