MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Russia’s battlegroup North has established full control over the Volchansk-Budarki highway, which Ukrainian troops had been trying to use as a logistics supply route, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"The Battlegroup North has also fully taken under control the Volchansk-Budarki highway. The Ukrainian armed forces’ units had been constantly attempting to use this route for logistics, specifically, to deliver ammunition and food to their firing positions," the ministry said in a statement.

It added that during active combat operations, assault troops adjusted artillery fire, while operators of strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) identified the movement routes of Ukrainian forces’ vehicles from the air, striking supply convoys in advance and depriving the enemy of ammunition and food deliveries to their positions. Having secured their positions in populated localities, servicemen of the Battlegroup North began clearing buildings, basements, and the surrounding area of enemy troops.

Units of the Battlegroup North, advancing simultaneously on several fronts, continue to expand the security zone along the Russian-Ukrainian border in Ukraine’s Sumy and Kharkov Regions. The troops are advancing around the clock, pushing the enemy back from the state border to ensure the safety of the civilian population, the ministry reported.
