Signal 2.0 perimeter surveillance system is deployed in Zaporozhye front of special op

MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. The Signal 2.0 mobile system for the rapid deployment of security systems is being deployed in the Zaporozhye and Volchansk sectors of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Igor Potapov, an unmanned aircraft and electronic warfare expert and spokesman for the NPP Design Bureau, told TASS.
"The Signal 2.0 mobile system is designed for the rapid deployment of security systems at technically unprepared front lines and temporary facilities. It is optimized to operate in field conditions and at facilities with heightened requirements for stealth. Currently, the system is being used in the Zaporozhye and Volchansk sectors. It is also supplied to meet industrial needs where rapid perimeter and site monitoring is required," said Potapov.
According to him, the system is based on passive infrared detectors. "A breach is detected when a temperature contrast is identified between a moving object (a person) and the thermal background. The detection range in the base version is up to 2 km. With an additional antenna installed, the range can be extended to 10 km from the monitored area," the expert said.
Potapov also noted that the Signal system was developed in 2023 at the request of troops carrying out missions in the Zaporozhye area. "At that time, enemy reconnaissance and sabotage groups were actively operating along the line of contact. It was necessary to quickly deploy a monitoring and alarm system for areas of possible intrusion. We approached the process with a focus on speed and efficiency, aiming to bring an area under control in just a few minutes using sensors that can be mounted on any surface," he emphasized.
NPP also reported that the system has undergone a series of upgrades over the past few years. "Signal 2.0 has changed significantly: the control panel has effectively become ‘pocket-sized’ while retaining all of its original functionality and tasks. It features audible, visual, and vibrating alerts, and all modes can be disabled," Potapov said.
