MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Russia’s Kalashnikov Group has delivered a batch of SVDM sniper rifles to a foreign customer under contract, the group’s press service told TASS.

"The Kalashnikov Group has delivered a batch of modernized 7.62mm Dragunov sniper rifles (SVDM) under a contract with a foreign customer. The products were delivered on schedule," the company said in a statement.

The SVDM is a modern version of the SVD rifle and features improved performance characteristics. It is designed to engage targets at ranges of up to 800 meters.

The rifle retains its gas-operated system with a short-stroke piston and gas regulator. Unlike the SVD, the stock has been replaced with a folding frame-type stock featuring an adjustable buttplate and a removable cheek rest to improve comfort when firing with optical sights. The ergonomically shaped pistol grip is separate from the stock.

A Picatinny rail on the receiver cover is used to mount optical and night sights.

The SVDM is in service with reconnaissance and special operations units and is used in situations requiring precision fire at medium and long ranges.
