MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. A new version of Russia’s high-speed Supercam S180 reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is capable of promptly transmitting a digital map of the terrain to the command post while conducting reconnaissance deep behind enemy lines, Unmanned Systems Group Spokeswoman Yekaterina Zgirovskaya told TASS ahead of the ADEX-2026 International Defense Exhibition in Baku.

"Developers at the Unmanned Systems Group have created a new version of the high-speed Supercam S180 reconnaissance drone, capable of promptly providing the military command with a detailed map of the terrain while the drone is still in the air. Such digital terrain map can be used for various purposes, such as in-depth reconnaissance behind enemy lines, detecting camouflaged objects, assessing roads and bridges, and identifying new trenches, fortifications, and warehouses," Zgirovskaya stated.

According to her, the data generated by the S180 system can serve as a faster alternative to visual reconnaissance data from satellite constellations, support strike planning, and track changes in the situation, including retrospectively.

The Unmanned Systems representative added that using the S180 system with a camera payload reduces the human factor. "During 'here and now' video monitoring, an operator might fail to notice something, overlook it, or simply not attach importance to it due to other aerial reconnaissance objectives. But the aerial photographs can be reviewed at any time and examined in detail," Zgirovskaya noted.

The company added that the Supercam S180 automatically adjusts its shooting speed based on the aircraft’s speed and transmits high-quality images in real time to the ground control station.
