MOSCOW, September 8. /TASS/. The Russian military base in Tajikistan is on alert in case of external threats, Russia’s defense chief, Andrey Belousov, said on Tuesday.

"We pay particular attention to strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border. The Russian military base in Tajikistan is on standby for missions to fight external threats. Close cooperation to use it has been maintained," he said, addressing a reception to mark the 35th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
