MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/. Russian air defense systems shot down 1,155 Ukrainian drones over the past day, thereby nearly matching the record for Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) destroyed in a single day, according to TASS calculations based on data released by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Over the past 24 hours, air defense systems shot down 20 Ukrainian guided aerial bombs, a rocket round from a US-made HIMARS artillery rocket system, and 1,155 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

The highest number of drones in a single day – 1,158 – was destroyed by Russia’s air defense facilities on August 2.

Prior to that, the highest number of drones destroyed was 1,060 – accomplished on July 25. And on May 17, as many as 1,054 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down.
