Russian Defense Ministry introducing new materiel management system procedure
The launch of the updated procedure in the troops is planned for July 1, 2026
MOSCOW, May 22. /TASS/. A new combat training materiel management system procedure using lean management technologies will be introduced in the Russian Armed Forces, the Defense Ministry reported.
"At the direction of the Russian Defense Minister, the ministry has streamlined combat training processes. Key attention is being paid to the write-off of weapons and materiel. Previously, bureaucratic procedures were prolonged, which prevented the timely updating of the training ground base and led to an annual increase in the cost of property. Defense Ministry specialists studied the existing procedure, write-off practices, and proposals from the troops, after which they eliminated intermediaries in the document flow and standardized the processes for equipping training grounds and military training centers," the statement reads.
The ministry clarified that the new procedure has already been communicated to all combat training agencies, range commanders, and centers. The launch of the updated procedure in the troops is planned for July 1, 2026.
"As a result, thanks to the application of lean management technologies, the Russian Armed Forces’ Main Combat Training Directorate has developed unified standard requirements for the construction of training facilities, which has reduced the cost of training places by a third and construction time by a third. The write-off period for combat training assets has been reduced by a factor of six, and the number of officials involved in the procedures has been reduced by 75%," the ministry emphasized.
