MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. Expert evaluations of a trophy German-made Leopard 2A6 tank seized from the Ukrainian army indicate that it is inferior to Russian serial-produced T-72B3M, T-80BVM and T-90M armored vehicles that are more adapted to modern warfare, Russia’s state tech corporation Rostec said on Monday.

Earlier, Rostec experts received a trophy Leopard 2A6 tank for evaluating its military and technical characteristics.

"As of today, the Russian-made T-72B3M, T-80BVM and T-90M vehicles are the serial-produced tanks best adapted to modern warfare. They feature improved all-round protection against drones and anti-tank missile systems: from counter-HEAT [high-explosive anti-tank] screens to reactive armor elements and other add-ons," Rostec said.

There were dozens of examples when Russian-made tanks withstood a whole array of hits from different angles, keeping their combat capability, it added.

In addition, the Ukrainian army operates various modifications of outdated Leopard 1 tanks, it said. "These vehicles have largely lost their efficiency," the state tech corporation said.

Russian troops regularly destroy Western-made armored vehicles, including various modifications of German-produced Leopard tanks in the special military operation in Ukraine. Last week, Russia’s Defense Ministry uploaded a video showing drone operators from the Rubicon Center of Advanced Unmanned Technologies hitting one such armored vehicle of the Ukrainian army near the settlement of Stepanovka in the Donetsk region.
