NEW YORK, March 14. /TASS/. Most of US military analysts agree that Russia’s newest Prometheus S-500 is a top-notch missile defense system that may pose a serious threat to Western offensive weapons, The National Interest writes.

According to the analysts, the S-500 is notable for its speed and flight range, as well as cutting edge technological solutions that make it possible to intercept the most advanced Western weapons. "Russia is right to be proud of its S-550 missile defense system," the magazine says.

The S-500, produced by the Almaz-Antey defense manufacturer, was designed to destroy all existing and future aerospace attack weapons of a potential enemy across the entire range of altitudes and speeds. Russia’s Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said in December 2024 that the formation of the first regiment equipped with S-500 systems was nearing completion.
