Fall conscription concluded with 133,000 individuals drafted — Russian Defense Ministry
As in previous conscription campaigns, conscripts had the right to choose service branches based on their health status and the results of psychological testing
MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. The fall conscription into military service has been concluded with 133,000 individuals drafted into the Russian Armed Forces and other military formations, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"The 2024 fall military conscription has concluded. According to the Russian president’s September 30, 2024 decree No. 822, 133,000 people have been conscripted into military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and other military units," the ministry stated.
The conscription process took place across the country. Commissions began working on October 1, and the dispatch of conscripts started on October 15. "For transportation, 11 flights of military aviation were used, along with 178 civilian flights, 16 military trains, passenger trains, and military vehicles," the Defense Ministry noted.
As in previous conscription campaigns, conscripts had the right to choose service branches based on their health status and the results of psychological testing.
Special focus was given to staffing research and industrial units, with 578 individuals drafted into scientific and industrial squads, and 200 members of Russia’s Olympic sports team conscripted into athletic units.
Direct phone lines were established with the General Staff’s main recruitment directorate and the recruitment directorates of military districts, receiving over 1,200 calls. "The main burden was shouldered by the draft center staff who efficiently and promptly carried out the government’s assignment," the ministry concluded.
