Foreign fighter jets escorted Russian, Chinese aircraft on certain route segments

MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. Strategic missile-carrier bombers of the Russian Aerospace Force and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force of China completed a joint patrol mission in the Asia-Pacific Region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The Russian Aerospace Force and the PLA Air Force of China completed the next joint air patrol in the Asia-Pacific Region. An air group of Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Force and Hong-6K strategic bombers of the PLA Air Force of China made the air patrol over areas of the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea, and the western part of the Pacific Ocean," the ministry informed.

"The airplanes of both countries acted strictly in line with provisions of internal law when performing the flight mission; no violations of foreign countries’ airspace took place," the ministry added.

Strategic aircraft of Russia and China were accompanied in their air patrol mission by foreign fighters on individual route segments, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The fighter air cover was proved all over the joint patrol route by Su-30SM and MiG-31 airplanes of the Russian Aerospace Force and J-16 airplanes of the PLA Air Force. Takeoff and landing of Russian aircraft from an airfield in the People’s Republic of China was completed during the joint air patrol. Strategic rocket carriers were accompanied on individual route segments by fighter jets of foreign countries," the ministry said.

The duration of the joint flight of Russian and Chinese aircraft was about eight hours. the refueling in the air was completed by crews of Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers at nighttime.
