DUBAI, November 22. /TASS/. Iran will stop honoring the self-imposed restrictions on its nuclear program and speed up uranium enrichment to the desired level in response to the latest anti-Iranian resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a senior Iranian lawmaker said.

"While Iran has so far observed some of the restrictions it has taken up voluntarily, it will soon stop doing so," Mohammad Reza Mohseni Sani, who sits on the National Security Committee at Iran’s Majlis (unicameral parliament), said in an interview with news agency ILNA. "And we will reach the desired uranium enrichment level soon," he added. According to the Iranian legislator, the Islamic republic has turned sanctions into opportunity, as evidenced by advancements in its missile sphere and nuclear sector.

On November 21, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a Western-initiated resolution criticizing Iran for allegedly being uncooperative with the global nuclear watchdog. The resolution asked the IAEA to issue an assessment on Iran’s nuclear program by next spring. Nineteen countries voted for the resolution, three voted against and 12 abstained. Iran responded by announcing plans to launch a substantial number of new centrifuges for uranium enrichment.
