What we know about massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russian regions
MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. As many as 70 drones were downed over six Russian regions on Sunday morning, with almost half of them in the skies over the Moscow Region, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
TASS has collected the key facts about the situation.
Drones target Moscow
- Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported the destruction of the first two drones targeting Moscow, in the Ramenskoye municipal district, at 8:37 a.m. Moscow time (5:37 a.m. GMT).
- Also, air defenses destroyed drones in the municipalities of Domodedovo and Kolomna in southeast Moscow.
- The mayor said as many as 32 drones targeting the Russian capital had been downed.
- The Russian Defense Ministry put the number of drones downed over the Moscow Region at 34.
Damage from drone attacks in Moscow region
- Two cars caught fire from falling debris in Sofyino in the Ramenskoye municipal district.
- A 52-year-old woman was injured in the Moscow Region in a drone attack targeting the Russian capital. She has been hospitalized with moderate burns to her face, neck and hands. She is currently in intensive care, Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyev said.
Moscow airports resume operation
- Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports in southeast Moscow suspended service at 8:03 a.m. Moscow time (5:03 a.m. GMT), the Russian air transport regulator, Rosaviatsiya, said.
- From 9:45 a.m. Moscow time (6:45 a.m. GMT), restrictions on the operation of Sheremetyevo Airport in northwest Moscow were imposed for safety reasons, too.
- So far, all restrictions to flight departures and arrivals to the three airports have been lifted.
- As many as 36 flights were diverted to alternative airports while the operation of the three Moscow airports was suspended.
Drones over more Russian regions
- Between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Moscow time (4:00 a.m.-7 a.m. GMT), 70 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were intercepted and destroyed, including 34 over the Moscow Region, 14 over the Bryansk Region, seven over the Oryol Region, seven over the Kaluga Region, six over the Kursk Region, and two over the Tula Region, the Defense Ministry reported.
- Overnight, air defenses downed 23 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies over four Russian regions, the ministry said. Namely, 17 drones were downed over the Bryansk Region, three over the Rostov Region, two over the Belgorod Region, and one over the Kursk Region, the ministry specified.
