Russia’s latest TOS-3 flamethrower to have firepower exceeding effect of several air bombs
According to reports, the TOS-3 will feature an increased striking range
MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Russia’s latest TOS-3 Dragon heavy flamethrower will feature firepower exceeding the effect of several ODAB-500P air bombs, the press office of the state tech corporation Rostec said on Friday.
Over the period of the special military operation in Ukraine, the Solntsepyok and Tosochka heavy flamethrower systems have evolved in terms of their increased firepower, striking range, protection and automation, the press office said on its Telegram channel.
"The Solntsepyok burns out an area of four hectares by a full salvo while the Tosochka already scorches a territory of six hectares. The efficiency can be compared to the effect of Iskanders [tactical missile systems]. A full salvo by the new heavy flamethrower system, which is a follow-up of the weapons that have proven their worth, exceeds the effect of several heavy air bombs, for example, ODAB-500Ps by its striking power. This is also because the new system will make it possible to strike multilayered targets like fortifications spread over a large area more effectively," the press office said in a statement.
Rostec Armament, Munition and Special Chemistry Cluster Industrial Director Bekkhan Ozdoyev told TASS earlier that the corporation was developing a new TOS-3 tracked heavy flamethrower system. The first experimental vehicle had already been developed, he said.
According to reports, the TOS-3 will feature an increased striking range.
The Omsk Plant of Transport Machine-Building (Omsktransmash) filed an application in February for registering the TOS-3 Dragon trademark.
