US uses IT sphere to combat undesirable countries — top security official
Nikolay Patrushev noted that the informational sphere has become an arena of confrontation between the US and its satellites against countries that carry out an independent policy and seek to strengthen their sovereignty
MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Washington actively uses the digital environment to combat countries that protect their independence, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said during the meeting of the Security Council’s scientific council.
"The IT area has gained not only the economic, but military and geopolitical dimensions as well. While having huge resources in computing hardware, software and Internet technologies area, the US actively uses them for inter-state confrontation," he noted.
The official noted that the informational sphere has become an arena of confrontation between the US and its satellites against countries that carry out an independent policy and seek to strengthen their sovereignty.
"We see how the so-called rules of responsible behavior of states in the digital area, beneficial for the Anglo-Saxons, first and foremost, are being imposed on the international community," he said.
Based on these rules, Patrushev continued, Western states decide which states are considered authoritarian and undemocratic at their own discretion.
"Russia, on its side, consistently seeks establishment of an international informational security system, based on strict compliance of the principles of sovereign equality of states and non-interference in their internal affairs," he underscored.
